Spartacus scores success in Hong Kong

In Hong Kong last night, 4YO Scarlet Camellia (Spartacus-Avelina, by Nashwan) won easily over 1600m in race 11 at Sha Tin. Ridden by Zac Purton for trainer Danny Shum, New Zealand-bred Scarlet Camellia defeated NZ-bred 6YO gelding Jimson the Best (Align-Happy Features) and Irish-bred 3YO colt Super City (Redback-Starring). Scarlet Camellia's dam Avelina (UK) was a very good producer and was bred by The Oaks Farm at Cambridge. Scarlet Camellia now has 5 wins and 3 placings from 8 starts and has earned HK$2.8 million in prize money. He looks as though he may develop into a pretty handy horse next season. On the same card in race 7, another Spartacus called Kingston Spartacus (Spartacus-Down the Avenue, by Salieri) finished 5th in a field of 14 over 1800m. It all looks quite positive for Spartacus out here!
